Fresh bowl of food with humus, tofu, grains and broccoli

April has been an exciting month for the community here.

You may have seen on the Sadie Centres social media, that on the 1st April, the Centre merged with Herts Mind Network. .

This collaboration further established our ethos of the

mind, body, food connection.

Hertfordshire Mind Network works to support positive mental health and wellbeing across Hertfordshire and you can read more about the amazing work they do via the link below.

Eating the Rainbow

The idea of eating the rainbow refers to eating a range of colourful and vibrant fruits and vegetables throughout the day to ensure that you get a diverse range of nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

The idea is to try to incorporate 2-3 different colours at every meal. In short every colour is mostly linked to a selection of nutrients, vitamins and minerals that can have certain benefits.

For example blue - blueberries, blackberries, red grapes, aubergine - can be used as a source of fibre and magnesium.

Here at Sadies cafe we try to incorporate the rainbow into all of our dishes. From our ever so green pancakes that are paired with red tomatoes and pink pomegranates, or our goodness bowl that has every colour of the rainbow!

New Seasonal Salads, Quiche and Soup!

We thought it was time to change things up!

Our new summer theme salads are as follows:

  • Quinoa salad with pomegranate, chopped apricots and sultanas

  • Crunchy beetroot and red cabbage slaw

  • Roasted fennel, orange and lentil salad

It's not just our salads that have had a change up, our new soup is a smokey red lentil and roasted tomato. Our chefs use a combination of slow roasting the tomatoes and red onions, combined with liquid smoke which is a seasoning used to add a delicate smokey flavour.

New quiche too!

This months quiche is roasted courgette, pea and cheddar which has been going down an absolute storm this week with our customers.

Dish of the month!

A plate of fresh tapas with different spreads, flatbreads, artichokes and dips

Carrying on from our earlier piece on eating the colours of the rainbow, we thought it would be a good time to highlight our tapas.

A selection of house-made dips, crunchy crudities, grilled artichokes, sweet potato fries, and padron peppers.

Served with our beetroot flatbreads (did you know we make this in-house too! - using fresh beetroot puree).

Our tapas is available for one or two people - a perfect sharing option.
